Intratracheal Instillation in Rats
Administration of test materials suspended in a small volume of vehicle via the trachea directly to the lung. The advantage of this delivery is it avoids deposition in the nasal passages and/or the fur as can occur in nose-only or whole-body inhalation. this method is particularly well suited for the administration of highly toxic or radioactive materials, since the dose is confined to a small volume thus eliminating the need for deconatmination of large pieces of equipment.
Intranasal Inhalation in Mice
- Administration of test material by the intranasal route is an effective, noninvasive technique for delivery to the upper and lower respiratory tract in mice.
- Tissue collection: lungs, nasal tissue
Intranasal Instillation in Rats
- Administration of test material to the upper respiratory tract in rats.
- Tissue collection: nasal mucosal linings
